Mermaids are a mythical species appearing in The Menagerie trilogy.
Description[]
Mermaids, formally known as merpeople, are a race of sentient Mostly Human mythical creatures. They can transform from having fish tails or legs at will.[1] Male merpeople are known as mermen[2], while female merpeople are known as mermaids. They can have hybrid children with humans, and have a monarchical system, as seen with King Cobalt and Prince Blue. They have a special underwater language that is only conversed among merpeople,[3] but they do understand human speech, such as English.[4]
History[]
The Menagerie[]
Blue, a half merman, half human, appears as a main character. Sapphire, a full mermaid, is seen at the Menagerie. Cobalt is also mentioned.
Dragon on Trial[]
Blue, a half merman, half human, appears as a main character. Baleen, Coral, and Sapphire are chosen as one of Scratch's peers for his trial.
Krakens and Lies[]
The mermaids in the Wyoming Menagerie's lake go on strike after hearing about moving to the Hawaii Menagerie if the Wyoming Menagerie closed. Due to this, they stop doing chores related to taking care of the aquatic creatures, such as Silverina, the zaratan, and kraken.
