Ruby Kahn is a character in The Menagerie trilogy. She is Zoe and Matthew's older sister. She is about 18 years old.[1]

Appearance[]

Ruby is described as having an asymmetrical blonde pixie cut that peaks on one side of her head. She wears dangling heart-shaped ruby earrings gifted to her by Jonathan Sterling, and a deep red ruby nose piercing.[2]

Personality[]

Ruby is a very snarky and picky girl who is interested in fashion sense. She is not necessarily mean, but she appears to value herself very greatly. She often tries to fix problems she has no business getting involved in.

Biography[]

Pre-Series[]

Ruby dated Jonathan and eventually invited him over to the Wyoming Menagerie in secret. When she got caught, she was ordered to dose the entire Sterling family. But as she did, she intentionally didn't dose Johnathan. She graduates from high school and goes to college.[3]

The Menagerie[]

Ruby called Zoe via Skype to ask about the missing griffins.[4]

Dragon on Trial[]

Coming soon...

Krakens and Lies[]

After being questioned about her relationship with Johnathan Sterling and whether she gave him kraken ink, Kiri finds her guilty. As punishment, she is forced to do chores in the Wyoming Menagerie while a greater punishment is decided by SNAPA. Matthew suggests that she should be put in the Giant Mythical Insect research team at the Tanzania Menagerie, where she would deal with enormous talking cockroaches and monster spiders.[5] She was instead enrolled into SNAPA's OOPSS course that she had to take on every school break for three years, where she would learn about Menagerie laws and what happens when people break them.[6]

Later, Ruby accompanies the Kahns in an effort to stop the Sterlings from exposing the Menagerie. She finds Jonathan, and tells him that their relationship is over.[7]
