Scarabs are a mythical species of beetles. Most of the 50 or so beetles are in SNAPA custody, and Trackers check them out when going on dangerous missions.[1]
Description[]
Scarabs are a small creature that can sustain itself for long periods of time without food.[2] They have multiple abilities for anyone who keeps them close including but not limited to, protection from a basilisk's hiss and glare[3], and the ability to see deflectors.[4]
History[]
Krakens and Lies[]
Logan was saved from a basilisk hiss by a scarab. This scarab was originally possessed by SNAPA, then Abigail Hardy stole it and gave to Jackson Wilde, who gave it to Logan.[5]
Trivia[]
- Scarabs are one of the only mythical creatures in the trilogy to not come from an already established myth. The other species is deflectors.
- Scarabs are a real, non-mythical species, however it is likely that the scarabs used in Krakens and Lies are a mythical variety, similar to how pyrosalamanders are cousins of real salamanders.
