Xiang is a Chinese Dragon who appeared in The Menagerie trilogy.
Appearance[]
Xiang has a serpentine body and a tiny, lionlike face with a white mane, bushy white eyebrows, long curling whiskers, small antler-like horns, sharp talons, and shimmering reddish-pink and gold scales[1]. There is a shallow depression under his chin that holds his pearl[2].
Skills[]
Xiang's abilities are largely given to him by his pearl. He can change his size, fly, walk on clouds, call storms, and increase luck.[3] He can breathe underwater and is also a good swimmer.[4]

Krakens and Lies[]
Xiang makes his first appearance in the third installment. He was captured by the Sterlings while being brought to the Wyoming Menagerie by Abigail Hardy. The took his pearl so he was powerless. He was reunited with his pearl. [5]
Trivia[]
- Xiang is shown on the cover of the English publication of Krakens and Lies.
- Xiang is the only character to be shown in full on the English covers in the trilogy.
- Xiang's name is Chinese for a certain Chinese dialect, but can mean "soar", or "glide", or "good luck", or "good omen"[6].
- He could also be named after the Xiang River.[7]
