Yump, formerly known as Roly-Poly[1], is a male griffin cub from the Wyoming Menagerie.
Appearance[]
Yump was described as red[2] with feathers and fur that "were a warm, rusty red tinged with orange around the wingtips". He is bigger than Squorp and Clonk, big enough not to fit inside a backpack, not as tall as Clink, but much rounder than Clink. He has big lion paws.[3]
Personality[]
Yump has a great love for food, especially cheeseburgers. He is greedy, as in the Wyoming Menagerie and free in Xanadu, he would take as much food at he could get, his gluttonous behaviors disrupting businesses[4], and the school.[5]
Skills[]
Yump can communicate telepathically, but he can only be heard by Logan Wilde due to his young age.[6]
Biography[]
The Menagerie[]
Although not known by name, Yump was the griffin who snuck into Logan's school and ate all of the food in the cafeteria.[7] Yump, while missing, did steal and consume much food in Xanadu, but in his formal appearance, Logan eventually lured Yump to being caught and hit with a tranquilizer dart by enticing him with cheeseburgers.[8]
Dragon on Trial[]
Yump is mentioned indirectly as one of the griffins that Logan and Zoe had recovered and was now safe.[9]
Trivia[]
- Tui's based Yump's personality off of one of her pets, a dog named Maui.[10]
- Yump's name could be a pun on the word 'yum', which is an exclamation given when enjoying food, which Yump does frequently.
- Yump shares the last letter of his name with two of his siblings, Flurp and Squorp.
